Many exciting things have been going on in the past several weeks! The first of which was that my students at school were able to play on stage at an assembly with Bill Cosby! We played Frere Jacques and Fiddle Tune. They were so nervous to be standing in front of Dr. Cosby but they played BEAUTIFULLY! When we walked on stage Dr. Cosby was cracking jokes saying things like "Man, I sure hope you know how to handle that thing [violin]" and "I hope you aren't getting ready to play Merrily We Roll Along... or Twinkle" - at that moment I was secretly very very thankful that those were not the pieces I had chosen. He cracked a lot of jokes the whole time and it was so cool to get to be near him... I didn't get to meet him but our whole auditorium was full of people who wanted to meet him. The Today Show also filmed it - I don't know yet when or if it has aired yet... once I find out - I will let you all know.
This was also the first time I was away from Wilson for more than 20 minutes. It was hard and I kept feeling like I was doing something wrong - but my wonderful sister-in-law pointed out that eventually I would have to be somewhere else... so, that made me feel better. Our friends, the Holsts babysat Wilson and I'm sure they had a wonderful time!
During this time period my sister-in-law Faith was staying with us! It was awesome having family up to help and meet Wilson! Not only did she make us fabulous dinners but she helped around the house so that we could get things done. She was such a blessing to us during that time. Last Thursday Grammy (Thomas' mom) also came up for the weekend. What a special time - getting to see her meet her first grandchild was amazing! She flew in late on Thursday night and Faith, Wilson and I were still up so she didn't have to wait until Friday morning to meet him. She also made us amazing meals with plenty of leftovers (we are enjoying them for lunch later today). I so enjoyed getting to spend some one-on-one time with her. We don't get a chance to chat just the two of us - so I truly cherished the time that I had with her as well. She babysat Wilson on Saturday night so that we could go hear Bach Collegium Japan perform Bach's Mass in B-Minor in Woolsey Hall. Amazing. Simply amazing!
Overall, the past week was incredible! Now we back to real life - Thomas going to school and me watching Wilson until the first week of May when I go back to teach until the end of June. We are trying to find a possible weekend in April to head to Virginia Beach to see my Granny before I go back to school so that she can snuggle Wilson too!
So, lots has been going on! Please keep us in your prayers as family is far away and it's hard not only for us but for them as well! We are hoping to plan a long trip to SC this summer so that we can have some great family time. Well, little buddy is waking up from his mid-morning nap (that he never really fell asleep in) and is looking hungry and grunting! So, I will wrap this up.
